Bible in the Classroom is a nonprofit organization. Our ministry is to spread awareness in Texas that the Bible can legally be taught in public school. Please help us get the word out.
At the start of the 2009/2010 school year Texas state law allows Texas school districts to offer enrichment curriculum that includes “religious literature, including the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) and New Testament and Its impact on history and literature. This law was approved by a collective vote of 167-3, by the Texas House and Senate, in 2007 (HB 1287).

It was then Bible in the Classroom began asking North Texas school districts to offer the elective class, The BIble and Its Influence on Western Civilization. Each year the list of school districts continues to grow.

We believe students learn at profound levels when they are highly engaged.
This course does an excellent job of engaging students into understanding the influence the Bible has had on Western Civilization by explaining how Bible characters and stories influence our literature, art, music, history and much more.
Classic literature that is directly influenced by the Bible includes a vast array of commonly read books and plays such as:

Literary techniques are used throughout the Bible . . . such as:

Metaphor - (Jesus & Middle East) "I am the vine" & "I am the door"

Personification - Human characteristics to inanimate objects “the hills clapped their hands”

Hyperbole - An intentional distortion of the truth, like the parable of the muster seed Jesus uses in Matthew 13:31-32
